Useful General Information

School Hours:

• Doors open to receive pupils at 9.10am. Class begins at 9.20am

• Morning break 11am- 11.10am.

• Lunch 12.30pm -1pm.

• Infants go home at 2pm

• School closes for all pupils at 3pm.

Uniform:

• Grey trousers/ skirt, grey shirt, blue crested jumper & blue & grey tie. 

• Crested jumper & tie available from ‘Uniform World’, Kilkenny. (Phone 056-7752806)

• Tracksuit consists of navy tracksuit bottom, grey polo shirt & crested ½ zip. 

• Crested top available from Nelligan Sports (Phone: 087-2225795)

• All items, with the exception of the crested items and school tie are generic and available from many outlets.

School books;

• All schoolbooks, copybooks and workbooks will be provided free of charge by schools for all pupils as a result of the new Free Book Scheme taking effect.

School Lunches:

• Hot school lunches are provided through the Department of Education’s School Meals scheme. Parents will be provided with a code and download an app, through which lunches are ordered on a weekly basis.

• Children must bring their own drink & a snack for morning break. We ask that children bring healthy snacks & drinks. Fizzy drinks, crisps, chewing gum and products containing nuts are not allowed.

Communications:

• We use the ‘Aladdin Connect’ app as our primary form of communications. Please see our ‘Communications Policy’ for further details.

Attendance:

• Under the Education Welfare Act 2000, parents must let the school know if their child is absent and why.  The school has to report the non-attendance of any child who misses 20 days or more in any school year, including sickness or hospitalisation to the Education Welfare Board. Absence notes can be submitted via Aladdin Connect.

Sacraments:

• The sacraments of First Penance & First Holy Communion are celebrated annually in St. Mary’s Church, Wolfhill.

• Confirmation is celebrated every second year.

Parents & Community:

• Our parents and members of the wider community are very supportive of our school and we work with a common aim of developing the personal, social, emotional & academic of the children.
